The Fray: The Fighter Meaning
Song Released: 2012
The Fighter Lyrics
She begged him not to go
The fighter wrapped his gloves
The fighter said I know, I know, I know
Just this one last time, I swear you'll still be mine
But he can't promise much, he goes for one last touch, one last...

i think that this song is meant for those with anger problems, i have anger problems and its getting me in so much trouble. i had a girlfriend and i lost her, she told me to not hit the wall and to control myself but i couldn't.
-
To me it means that maybe he really a is a fighter, like a boxer or something and then he gets a cincussion or has some disorder that keeps him from fighting but he does anyway and he tells his girlfriend that hell be okay but then he gets hit hard and he dies. And that's how they both know that he's not coming home.

this song really touches me. i know it's probably supposed to be about a fighter. but i hear a different message in it "loneliness has always been with me, with me, maybe we dont have to be all alone."
what breaks your bones, is not the load you're carryon', what breaks you down, is all in how you carry" i think that this song is about someone with a past, that they can't get away from, a deep deep secret that he's trying to get away from. her unwrapping his gloves is maybe her unfolding his secret. "but i gotta try or it will destroy me, cause baby we dont have to be all alone" is maybe them being able to talk about it finally, and lifting the weight off of his back for once. -
The fighter is a soldier in service and before he leaves to go where he is stationed, his lover begs him not to go but he says he must because it is his duty just one last time. In the battlezone he's fighting for what might of been had he stayed and he gets shot by someone he can't see. Before he dies his lover comes to see him but they both know that he's not going to make it. I think the chorus is saying that sometimes its good to be lonely because it makes us stronger, but we don't have to be all alone.
