The Killers: Tranquilize Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Featuring: Lou Reed
Tranquilize Lyrics
Wedding bells they begin easy
Live it down, baby don't talk that much,
Baby knows, but baby don't tease me.
In the park we could go walking,
Drown in the dark or we could go sailing
On the...

you should listen to this song backwards if you want to know what it means. The violence & politics are alluded to in the forward lyrics.... but the backwards lyrics are scarier.
One of the only songs I actually believe has backwards messages in it. -
okay- the guy is living in his hometown and it is probably in the 60's or early 70's
He messes around with a girl and "sippin on something sweet" and she wants to get married 'political process" but he wants to be free but she becomes pregnant "steady boys" Im thinking she needs me. So, he marries really young and needs to support a kid- and get's into trouble maybe debt or just freaks out and wants out of the marriage "gonna break down the door" lost my mind but it's been gettin to me all this time" Silently reflection turns my world to stone- regrets- then he refers back to childhood like it was yesterday but he in this crazy life-tranquilize is like he is just doing a life without feeling it- like he is sleeping. Then he get's old talking to other people or his son about what to expect- I am not sure about the bushes and the bombs maybe by this time bush is president and he his hoping that everything will be better The song makes me cry at the end because the guy sounds like my Dad and it is a really good song-but it's a poem and it really can mean anything. Sometimes people start out thinking marriage and children are easy but and some leave and regret leaving I think this is the story-I love the song -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

i think it is either about bad things that has happened in history or ( call me crazy) abuse. i think its these because when he says
I was just sipping on something sweet
I don't need political process
I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door
I got this feeling they they're gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it's been getting to me all this time
And it don't stop dragging me down
also when the kids were singing i thinks it because some nursery ryhms are about bad stuff from the past ( like ring around the posy) and if you haven't noticed some parts of the song is violent.
