The Pretty Reckless: Just Tonight Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Just Tonight Lyrics
And I can’t think from all the pills, hey
Start the car and take me home
Here we are
And you’re too drunk to hear a word I say
Start the car and take me home
Just tonight I will stay
And we’ll throw it all away
When the light...
-
There are good interpretations, but this song is actually about her relationship (or lack-thereof) with her mother.
-
So I always thought it was about drug addiction as in she's on a party or whatever and she's clearly overdosed (" I can't think from all the pills") but it's just tonight that she's gonna do the drugs because she wants to get clean and she's blaming other people for her behavior.
-
They fight all the time. He blames it all on her, but he doesn't understand her, and doesn't want to, so it's all him. She's finally had enough, so just tonight, she'll stay, one last time, knowing it's the last time. In the morning light she sees in his eyes that nothing has changed, and it's time to go, for good.
-
When I listen to the song I can relate to the lyrics, to me the lyrics are about suicide, where she wants to go and she’s numb but the boy she loves and who loves her wants her to stay so she stays just for tonight. “I can’t think from all the pills hey start the car and take me home” she’s overdosed and is ready to go home, as in die. “And here I am
Watching the clock that's ticking away my time I'm too numb to feel right now just tonight I will stay” she’s waiting to go for t to be over where she will be gone and she feels numb but she will stay for tonight. It just feel it’s about a girl wanting to go but will hold it off for one night for the one who loves her. -
i believe that it is about a woman who is living life dangerously for one more night before she gives that up to move on away from the things that are destroying her life. "Watching the clock ticking away my time". as if she is watching herself die in this situation. Shes letting loose for one more time before she has to leave behind the people she loves
-
I feel like a lot of people are getting a very diffrent than me. The song is obviously more than it seems I know that feeling she isn't talking about wanting to break out of a abuse relationship. She's making same mistake just tonight I while stay and we'll throw it all away means that she she isnt readybto give up on him I think its about how she knows she can't keep coming and throwing her life away waiting for it to be better she kbows but she just can't let go yet and I don't think she's talking to a girl or a guy I think she's talking to herself it's a struggle from within but that's just what I think.
-
It's about an abusive relationship I think. "And you're too drunk to hear a thing I say" he's drunk, obviously. "I can't think from all the pills." She takes pills to be numb. "Just tonight, I will stay." JUST tonight, meaning she'll leave him.
-
I honestly think this song is about suicide. She wants to, but the person she's talking about, doesn't let her, but they know that she's suffering a lot. "When the light, hits your eyes, its telling me I'm right." As in, when realisation hits your eyes, you look at me with pity.
"If i'm through, its all because of you" as in, if I get through this tough time, I'll thank you.
and also, "just tonight, i wont leave, i'll lie in your believe, just tonight, i will see, that its all because of me."
This is the last time I'm staying, and I'll try and make you believe its the only way, and this is the last time, I'll understand that I'm the reason for all the problems in my life. :| idk. -
She just couldn't believe how much he hates her all this while. she's clinging to something that can't be changed and hold on a marriage vow but she swore that she never felt like this before. she's so scared, shy and feel guilty to god n her husband but the feeling is so sweet and everlasting.god knows how hard she tried to fight.
She knew the guy never loved her and intend to manipulate and to seek revenge on her from beginning. But she still loves him no matter what he did or cheat her. (i am me, i couldn't change my nature. Plse forgive me) -
i guess its saying how this relationship isnt right but shes not gonna leave yet. that she gonna forget about the wrongs hes made just tonight. the verses say how shes all broken up and confused.
-
It is not clear to me how she can say:"and you're too drunk to hear a word I say, start the car and take me home"...ok, I understand she"can't think from all the pills"...but you can't tell to someone who's that drunk"start the car and take me home", you won't get home.
-
I assume it's about an abusive relationship and Taylor sings that she wants to get away, but can't 'JUST tonight, I won't leave.' - JUST that one last time, but she'll leave after it. Perhaps she always says JUST this once.
