All Down the Line Lyrics
-
In the documentary, it's shown that very few songs on "Exile on Main Street" had any meaning at all. They just wrote some phrases out on pieces of paper like "All Down the Line" and "Yeah, hear the guitars hummin'!" and tossed them into a hat then threw them out on a table.... then put them together in various combinations.
Despite their success with songwriting, I really don't believe the Stones ever liked it. I think they love playing music, but had to write songs because that's the only way they could get to their level of success.
