The Rolling Stones: Dead Flowers Meaning
Dead Flowers Lyrics
Talkin' to some rich folk that you know
Well I hope you won't see me in my ragged company
Well, you know I could never be alone
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you...
-
Suzie is already dead and the queen of the underworld. Someone is mourning her so bad it's taking him down. The thought of flowers is dead so he loves her and puts roses on her grave. Simple
-
Keith wrote the song about Mick. Its Mick that thought he was a big underground socialite (sticky fingers cover by Warhol) and silk chairs and fancy cars....horse track ( a la You're so Vain....Saratoga reference is also anout Mick).
They had different friends for sure in the 70's.
Its 2 brothers fighting.
Mixed Emotions is the same sentiment only 25 years later. -
The reference to Suzie, queen of the underground, is clearly Suzie Creamcheese...a well known groupie from that era. I assume the song to be some sort of dis against her.
-
Marijuana buds are, in reality, dead flowers. Rose is street slang for heroin (poppy). So what the song says is, send me marijuana buds (dead flowers) and I'll send you heroin (roses) which may kill you. So, basically: weed is enough for me, don't kill yourself with heroin.
-
I believe, if memory serves me, that the song is about his relationship with Maryann Faithful. As I recall she had quite a drug problem and fell on quite hard times. I should check on it though as sometimes in my 69 years, I can be mistaken.
-
Oh my God get real!!!
It's not all about drugs
The song speaks for itself just listen it
it's about him in a relationship wirh a self centered the girl she's kind of mean to him think she's too good for him.Its pretty simple! Just listen to hi and he is a drug addict. -
Heroine is made from the poppy flower. He mentions needle and a spoon.
