The Rolling Stones: Get Off of My Cloud Meaning
Song Released: 1965
Get Off of My Cloud Lyrics
And I sit at home looking out the window
Imagining the world has stopped
Then in flies a guy who's all dressed up like a Union Jack
And says, I've won five pounds if I have his kind...
-
my feeling was the same since I first heard it to be left alone... in the world that is you are in...even if it's imaginary.
-
I had heard that "cloud" was a Great Britain slang term for "whore". I am not familiar with 1960's slang terminology in Great Britain, so I do not know if that is true. If you can shed some light on this issue I would be most appreciative.

I do believe the song is referring to Keith Moon in the line..in flies a guy dressed up in a Union Jack

This song brings back memories from the past. Even though not a ROLLING STONES fan on the overall, their music was't that bad, actually some of their music was becoming ''enjoyable pleasure'' even to the stuck up rebellious hot lips of the elite on their throne and down the ladder. Now to me MICK JAGGER with all his talent, looking fearless on stage when performing for some reason reminded me of this cocky Red Rooster that i was petrified of to have eye contact with the bird as a young boy living on a farm that whenever i had to go to the outhouse this Rooster used to chase the hell out of me any time it saw me. Probably to protect his helpless hens, i could only guess now. But anyway this was the first song i was caught in my wild imagination in body and mind feeling light to be elevated slowly in the high that was fueled also by some hash and pot use to sense this ''Divine Presence'' with your other and 'telling who? that's the question to ''Get off my cloud'' song about the individual to be left alone to enjoy the high on the Ninety-Ninth floor of the apartment building, which is a Metaphor for a Cloud to hang out in just for some self-induced heavenly peace once in a while when you're in your apartment getting high.

I have two interpretations. One, it could be not wanting others to invade your alienation, because life is getting too stressful for you, or you just want to be left alone for other reasons. Another, it could also be a song about not wanting others to steal your spotlight in life generally. Either way, I think the song speaks for itself, the music, the lyrics, the vocals, everything.

The song talks about those times in your life when you just want to be alone, you are in a cloud which means you are in your own world, and suddenly someone comes and brings you back to reallity and you tell them: "Hey you get off of my cloud" which means leave me alone, let me stay in my inner world.
-
It means the hectic part of life, he keeps talking about the telephone ringing, its two a.m. doesnt anybody ever want to go to bed, parking tickets, Etc.. So really mick was only trying to convey the frustrations of everyday life that only wanted to make him feel he needed to be ALONE( two's a crowd on my cloud bebe) I believe he just spilled it out no secret coding to his simple lyrics!
