I think that the verses are talking to Satan (try to control me but you don't own me) and the chorus is talking about God (you're my answer to the question why)

I think the song is about a relationship....but not a good one. The one may have done things wrong and the other won't play these games again but with "hold me in your arms tonight" I think it's meant that the one would like to be with this person.
I think he wants the person but he don't want to play these games and that he "tried it" but he can't. But now he's going to tell it to her (or him....) And she(/he) should bring all her friends and the team. So I think it's about a hard and difficult relationship with mistakes. I am not sure about it but that's what I interpreted in this song.
