They Might Be Giants: Kiss Me, Son of God Meaning
Kiss Me, Son of God Lyrics
Called the blood of the exploited working class
But they've overcome their shyness
Now they're calling me Your Highness
And a world screams, "Kiss me, Son of God"
I destroyed a bond of friendship...

Holy sh@t, this song is about someone with too much power who is well aware of the destruction they create by their own hands yet they still get praised. They are a venerated figure that REALLY doesn't care about their followers. The beauty of this song is, I think, it englobes/applies to many different positions of powers: economical, spiritual, political... Yet still be the same. I love this song!

Seems like it's a pretty serious indictment of an evil, evil political figure... if I only knew which one...
People ignore or are unaware of his evilness, and praise him anyway.
