Twenty One Pilots: Tear In My Heart Meaning
Song Released: 2015
Tear In My Heart Lyrics
That you're alive and have a soul
But it takes someone to come around
To show you how
She's the tear in my heart
I'm alive
She's the tear in my heart
I'm on fire
She's the tear in my heart
Take me...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think that this song means that you never really know how being in love feels until you are actually in love and nothing really compares to the feelings it gives you and the way it makes you think.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:In my opinion,Tyler Joseph the lead singer of the band wrote the song tear in my heart for his loving wife Jenna. Of course this song could fit any man who is in love with a woman. The first stanza "you gotta bleed to know" life is hard and lonely, even though we do have souls. When "someone come around", here I would like to refer someone as Tyler's wife, Jenna or any person that is a inspiration to your life. When the person come to you and show you the things you never ever found interesting and lively before, she becomes "a tear in your heart".
The tear here could be the tear of joy, or the tear of sadness. And that's how love and relationship work sometimes. By saying "you're the tear in my heart", Tyler commits that his lover becomes a part of his emotion that lives inside of his body, and it is important as his own heart. In other words, the tear of joy could make me(Tyler) feel like "I'm alive". -
This is just my opinion you don’t have to agree!!
“Sometimes you gotta bleed to know, that you’re alive and have a soul”
I think these lyrics are referring to pain in general, doesn’t have to be this situation, but say you love someone & are crying over them, the crying would be the “bleeding” whereas the reason why you’re crying is cause you care about them. When ppl say someone “has no soul” I usually think of someone completely emotionless. But by showing this emotion (crying) you’re expressing “that you’re alive and have a soul”.
“But it takes someone to come around, and show you how. She’s the tear in my heart.” To me this means that the pain from the first line is no longer general pain, but is now focusing on the pain of a break up or something. “It takes someone to come around, and show you how” I think the line “show you how” is someone showing him how to have a soul and be alive (which we know from before that sometimes you gotta bleed to have a soul). Meaning the ‘someone that came around and showed him how to have a soul’ was probably a girl who broke his heart and taught him pain but also taught him that he is capable of loving and being loved.
“She’s the tear in my heart” what I get from this, is that she was someone who broke his heart. No matter what, the ‘tear on his heart’ will always be there because she’s the reason it tore. That last part didn’t make much sense lol. The second possible meaning imo is this song is about the love of his life. He explains his attraction to her in the line “The songs on the radio are okay, but my taste in music is your face” and in the line “my heart is my armor, she’s the tear in my heart” I feel that means that although he is a tough guy, she is his one weakness because he loves her so much. -
When Tyler says "Sometimes you gotta bleed to know" he means you have to go through pain in order to understand what he means. He later says "My heart is my armor/She’s the tear in my heart" which means that she (referring to his wife, Jenna) is like his kryptonite, his one weakness, the tear in his armor.
