Song Released: 2016
Cancer Lyrics
If you could get me a drink
Of water 'cause my lips are chapped and faded
Call my aunt Marie
Help her gather all my things
And bury me in all my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers, still
I will not kiss you
'Cause the...

#1 top rated interpretation:I am a 14 year old fresh out of chemo so this feeling was familiar to me in a lot of ways.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:my Mamaw Rudell went though cancer but didnt make it, so to me, this song means that this person is going through cancer and everyone left them, except for one person, so theyre telling them that the hardest part of this is leaving them, and they want water and theyre just waiting for death, idk im stupid, and this song just made me cry on the inside.

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:Just like others said, its about someone who has cancer, it's incurable and they're aware and struggling with the fact that they're not going to make it, they don't want to kiss their loved ones and admit they're saying goodbye even though it's clear they're dying. But it can also be applied to other things, some one struggling with a different illness or even with suicide. You can listen to it and connect it with different things that relate to you personally, it's a really pretty heartbreaking song.
-
The song is like depression he is describing how it acts like depression he doesn’t want to tell his loved ones goodbye because he wants to die later on in life but he haves to accept the cancer
-
My friend died from cancer a while ago.. but it still hurts. This song is relatable because he couldn’t say goodbye and neither could I. I miss him but this song helps. Thank you TØP!
-
My ma had cancer, died from it actually. Watching her waste away hurt worse than anything in my life. But I can only imagine how it was for her. This song really puts me in the mind of someone going through that. In my case my ma. Its really...strange, seeing it from a different perspective.
-
1. I think that this is a song in another person perspective who is dealing with cancer and they need to pack their stuff because they know they aren't going to make it.
2. Someone who is dealing with suicidal thoughts and the hardest part is saying goodbye because they know it will be hard on everyone if they do commit suicide and die.

I think this song is about how he has these horrible suicidal thoughts, tormenting him and poisoning his mind and he's given up, leaving him to feel that he'd be better off dead, but thinking of leaving the people that are loved and important is the hardest part. He wants to end the suffering but feels like its hard because there are people he loves and doesn't want to leave.
-
He is talking about cancer in first person. I will not kiss you means the cancer person can’t have a lover because the cancer person is going to die and they don’t want to leave because it’s hard to think about
-
I think it is about how sometimes you want to die and that if you have cancer you are really " counting down the days to go" because sometimes having cancer is what a person only wishes in her or his life time. But also that he will " not kiss her because the hardest part of this is leaving her" because he loves her so much he doesn't want it to be goodbye even though he knows and sometimes wants that happens.
-
It says "I'm counting down the days to go" so he must have cancer and knows he won't make it. This so is so touching. ❤
-
This is actually a cover of MCR's Cancer. The song is part of the Black Parade trilogy, and it is about a patient who is suffering through cancer, and dies. When he wants the person "to be true" he may be referring to a girlfriend/spouse. He doesn't want them to leave him until he does die, and to always remember him throughout her life/
-
Metaphors....
-
I think first it means if he kisses her he will be saying goodbye and doesn’t want her to remember him that way, another way you can interpret when he says I will not kiss you - he can be talking about the cancer itself, turn away, not accepting that cancer will be his death, then saying kiss you, accepting that cancer will defeat them.
-
Its not because by saying that
-
This song IS about cancer. Its stated in the song, ''And all my hair abandon all my body all my agony'' ..
-
I think this song is about someone who has cancer. They are telling someone to get ready and pack their things because they know that they will not make it. And that he will not kiss her because it is difficult for him. He doesn't want to do anything because he knows he won't be able to have the future with her.
-
I've seen a music video for this and it is just pics and quick videos of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. I feel like cancer is like depression. "I will not kiss you " kissing is for love and eventually everyone leaves tjaey don't wanna be the one to get hurt.
