Kitchen Sink Lyrics

Nobody thinks what I think,
Nobody dreams when they blink
Think things on the brink of blasphemy
I'm my own shrink
Think things are after me, my catastrophe
At my kitchen sink,
You don't know what that means
Because a kitchen sink to...

I feel that this song is an inspirational message, people don't see things like you do and that's normal "a kitchen sink to you, is not a kitchen sink to me." A kitchen sink to Tyler is an item that he used to try and take his life but to me it's a place where nasty wet food touches my hand but to another person it could be where their parents announced their divorce. It's all about perspective and with experiences comes different perspectives but it's like this song is saying "it has meaning to you and that's all that matters" find YOUR meaning be who YOU are. That's what I think this song is saying

Somebody did some research and there is actually a way to commit suicide with a kitchen sink. The symbol l-/ could mean that thing, the straight line being the sink, the horizontal line being the rope and the slanted line being Tyler or a person. This may not be the actual meaning to Tyler, but in Regional at Best, the lines are connected, but now in Blurryface, they have space between them, meaning that Tyler has maybe overcome this feeling.

The kitchen sink/suicide attempt story seems to be fairly well known now. Listening to this song, it occurs to me that maybe Tyler is providing a voice for the actual kitchen sink as it tries to dissuade him/anyone from a suicide attempt. It provides the message of finding your own meaning in life...if you can find meaning in anything, even if nobody else sees or understands, it can't be undermined.

Zach's section, to me, reminds us that everybody has things that they are dealing with in their head and that it's not uncommon to over-analyze the past and to try to recapture feelings or memories that are already gone.

The two main messages I take from the song are:
    1. It's ok if you're not ok, and don't be afraid to say so because it's actually normal.
    2. This song IS a kitchen sink and it's only right that everybody interprets it differently.

I think it's good that we can all take different things from all of Tyler's lyrics and if, by sharing his experiences, he can help or comfort any of us, then that is really powerful.

Tyler tried to take his life using a kitchen sink. you may see it as a place for dirty dishes, or a place to wash hands, but he sees it as a way to hang himself. If you notice, all the TOP songs have deep meanings behind them, the main idea of every one of them is death.

But no one has said about kitchen sink dramas, I think this is a real possibility. Kitchen sink dramas are British, popular in the 1960s, are very bleak and written by 'angry young men'. They deal with the concept of socialism and classes, and in a way, I think this poem could be a kitchen sink drama. This is about Tyler being suicidal, yet in a way, it is also a drama about class systems and being stuck.

kitchen sink is simply tyler saying that a kitchen sink to us is not the same to him. its simply... its simply stating that tyler tried to kill himself. this doesnt need to be tossed and turned around, we all know it. we just need to be there for him when he needs us next.

I feel like certain things mean different things to different people. Tyler tried to take his life with a kitchen sink, so to you a kitchen sink a a sink in the kitchen. To him a kitchen sink almost to his life away.

We all have inner demons, and sometimes we lose ourselves to those demons (metephorically OR literally) so if we kill those demons, we can live happily.

So, if someone seems crabby one day, sure, you think they had a bad day, but maybe they're parents just got a divorce. If we saw what everyone else saw, maybe the world would be better. For now, we stick to our feelings about certain things.

I don't understand how you can try and take your life via a kitchen sink but he is very creative when it comes to wording on this song and I absolutely love it

I believe this song is to do with perspective.

Everyone sees things differently, a kitchen sink to me is a place where dishes are done, and hands are washed, but a sink to tyler seems to be a place where he tried to take his life according to sources. This ties in with the TOP |-/ the | being the sink, the - being the rope and the / being the person aka tyler.
This song seems to be Tyler’s life story in hard to understand words so it’s not as simple as saying he tried to take his life with a kitchen sink, which is what I love about TOP, their songs have deep meaning.

I believe that it means what may seem just like an ordinary everyday object to one person may have another meaning for somebody else. To Tyler, it shows him a way to stop his troubles. To you, it might mean nothing. To me, to me it means the world moves on weather I'm ready for it or not.

I believe that kitchen sink is Tyler's way of telling his life story in metaphors that nobody understands. "A kitchen sink to you isn't a kitchen sink to me" is one way to put it. The way you see Tyler isn't the way he sees himself as. Therefore, concluding he is his own person and believes what he wants. Anyone else who sees him differently is their own opinion, but the way he sees his self is his own opinion. AND THIS SONG IS SICK AS FRICK. |-/

I think the song is about finding meaning as he says "Are you searching for purpose?
Then write something, yeah it might be worthless
Then paint something then, it might be wordless
    Pointless curses, nonsense verses
You'll see purpose start to surface
No one else is dealing with your demons
    Meaning maybe defeating them
Could be the beginning of your meaning, friend."

This is an obvious one, I think. It means that not everyone sees things the same way, and when some people want to try and make everyone believe what they do, then the people who are getting "brainwashed" are just wanting the extroverts to "go away"
