Twenty One Pilots: Trees Meaning
Trees Lyrics
Silent in the trees
And that's where I am
Silent in the trees
Why won't you speak
Where I happen to be?
Silent in the trees
Standing cowardly
I can feel your breath
I can feel my death
I want to know you
I...

#1 top rated interpretation:I'm probably wrong but i think it may be tyler talking to everyone with anxiety. He wants to help them but having anxiety himself can't. aaaaand that's my terrible interpretation I hope you had fun laughing at it.

#2 top rated interpretation:I believe Trees has to do with anyone feeling worthless and forgotten. And "why won't you speak where I happen to be?!" must mean that he wants to be known by someone who is struggling with life. He/she wants to be known by that person so that way he/she can tell him "It's okay, we'll get through this together" And yes I am a very emotional person so I know how it feels to want to be known by someone. We'll do it together frens. Follow my insta @duns_for_hands_yeh. yes I know this is a dumb idea but please " I want to know you, I want to see, I want to say.. hello" and we'll stay alive together... |-/

#3 top rated interpretation:I think that this song is about a person with depression or anxiety. This person never talks about hers/his feelings so he just stands "silent in the trees".

Perhaps it is a song for the One who was silent on the Tree.
Jesus.
In my opinion, it is about the struggle to know the Lord, to simply say "hello" to the God of the Universe! When we truly understand that, it becomes intimidating to say "hello." -
This is a straight worship song!
Those of you who are not Christians will confuse this for something other than a conversation between Tyler and God. He knows that God is there, and he himself is there, but our faith is a struggle and sometimes our guilt or “cowardice” to except our spiritual death to sin keeps us from a relationship with God. This is a pure outpouring to God letting Him (God) know that although he (Tyler) struggles, he wants a relationship with Him (God). It is beautiful, honest, and deep! -
It starts off with God saying ' I know where you stand... silent in the trees' - then 'us, tyler or anyone' That is where I stand silent in the trees... cowardly- maybe ashamed by our sin wanting to feel Gods Breath knowing He is always there for us with his unconditional love and grace no matter what we feel cowardly about. I can feel my death is a representation of the death to our sinful nature- us wanting to know God and the ability to say hello ! To have the relationship we truly need to live!!! To me it is a beautiful worship song and intimate portrait of a connection between us and God !!!

I believe this song is about social anxiety and how some people just hide in the crowd, or, 'trees' to avoid interaction

This song, to me- represents Adam in the The Garden of Eden. Original sin and how Adam was a coward, and now feels his death.

I believe the song Trees is his way on telling us he cares and he wnats to know every single one of the clique but sadly cant, giving the lyric "i want to see, i want to say, hello."
"I can feel your breath" is like him saying "i know you are alive and i know you are there." and "i can feel my death" to me means that he would die to know and help us out. Its a very touchy song to me. Sorry, I didn't make an account so I wrote as anonymous... Anyways follow me @duns_for_hands_yeh... -
The song is about a man and his thoughts about God or a man and a person who seems to be distant from him.

I feel like this is kind of like a sucidal song. That someone he cared about had hung himself. During a concert he was talking about he wanted the place to be a safe place. So I think this song is about someone who has hung themselves and he is with them hearing their last breath.

Trees is a song Tyler Joseph wrote while he was in High School. It first appears on his album No Phun Intended, which a majority of the songs deal with his struggles with the Christian faith. This song is about him desperately wanting to know God and hear an audible voice, but struggling to understand who God is. "Why won't you speak, where I happen to be?" "I want to know you, I want to see, I want to say, hello."

I feel like this song is about social anxiety. a boy and a girl who had just laid eyes on each other but the girl refuses to talk to each other due to her social anxiety. The trees might represent a crowd that's surrounding the boy and girl, preventing the boy from trying to socialize with the girl. The boy wants to get to know her but she tries avoiding him and trying to hide in the crowd. But no matter what, the boy 'knows where she stands,' silent in the 'trees', and refuses to socialize with the boy. The girl stands cowardly in the crowd trying to not be seen by the boy who wishes to socialize with her.
