Volbeat: Fallen Meaning
Fallen Lyrics
You left too early father love
So many things I should have said
But in your mind you knew it well
Holding on to what i gotta love
But things still seem so dark and cold
The fire burning down...
-
It’s about the pain that he had to go through when his dad died. ‘Are the angels on the way I’m in the dirt.” - he’s in so much pain that he wants to die. “You left to early father love.” - he must’ve died at a young-ish age. “Oh dear father I thank you for the years.” - He thanks his father for the year that are now gone. “Hear me screaming see me bleeding.” - he doesn’t mean literally bleeding he feels like he is bleeding because the pain hurts so much. “Watching over me with eagle eyes.” - his father is in heaven watching over him to make sure he’s safe. “The days no more the same without you.” - he’s counting the days that his father has been gone and he is saying all the days are the same without you. Wake up, cry. “See me fallen yeah down and lonely.” - he is in pain and he is lonely without his father. “Feel a sadness burning in my heart.” - he loved his father and he is very sad that he is gone. It’s burning him.

You really have to call long distance when they're gone. God bless you and your memories of him.

Wow did his dad really die.

I love this song, but only just read the lyrics on a webpage, seen them all together... and they're really sad! They almost made me cry! I just googled lyrics meaning to see what other people think of them.
I think the meaning is obvious - Michael's dad died, and hes singing about his feelings.
