Heaven Nor Hell Lyrics

Well I've heard that the devil is walking around
I sold my soul way down in the dirt
But stole it back and forever in debt
And for a moment I don't even care
Until I felt his breath at my neck
And maybe even you can feel it too
He's on a...

I feel the song heaven nor hell is not about the afterlife, it has to do with the way one chooses to live their life. You can be a good person and have evil tendencies and viseversa. To say that an angel and the devil look pretty good hand in hand is a brilliant way of saying ones actions aren't necessarily dictated by the angel on the right shoulder or the devil on the left. It's a joint venture. Why let either one have their way? Their both useless when push meets shove. That's my take I'm probably wrong. It's the opinion of some one born into a roman catholic family with strong ties to the church. However I don't believe or disbelieve. I just appreciate the song because it suits my beliefs to a tee.

The song is about humanity and the struggle between good and evil in mortal humans. It acknowledges the existence of the devil, and god but that it is humans that make their own fate, not the influences of religion or the even the absence of it if that is the case. it is an agnostic view of religion.

Since Volbeat has made numerous claims against religion, it might not only be denouncing a separation, but flat out denying an afterlife, saying that both are fake and that neither matter.

    it’s in the lyrics...
And then he was the angel that became the devil....
And now he’s just here to distract people through music...
The video states, to me, the deception that the cars represent God and Satan
and during the slow part there are tires falling from the sky that are the fallen angels.....

Well since satan has his hand in everything of this world I'm not surprised. Even the band looks dark. Most musicians , bands, actors, hollywood are Illuminiati they sell their souls to the satan for money and fame. This sounds crazy but it's true when your politically awake you understand. Most of the world is asleep do this sounds crazy to them.

There's a lot of music that nobody can really interpret. Some bands just throw something together based on a feeling, but to get something together to appease the label, cut a record and make some money. Not a lot of artists actually spend a lot of time and thought producing a song or an album. Really, this song makes zero sense. The lead singer was interviewed and could make sense of it either. Most atheists can't make sense of this subject. There's too much logic to support religion of some kind exists, so people claim themselves as agnostics. It's hard to live religion, it's easy to live "in the world". Most Christian religions would even say that, so no wonder people are confused. They don't understand their own doctrine. These guys are the same. The only band I know that really makes any sense with their lyrics are "The Offspring". Go figure when your lead singer and writer is a genius with a doctrate degree of molecular biology. I kid you not. Their music is almost Weird Al Yankovic type, except instead of being a satire of songs, the Offsprings music makes fun of the stupidity of mankind. Its very intellectual, believe it or not.

But yeah, agnostics are confused. They know there's a higher power, they just don't know what sect is right. Everyone claims to know the answers and be able to translate and interpret ancient scripture but, they really don't and can't. They just want your money, but you can't study it on your own because there's so many different translations and interpretations of the Bible saying that one's right. Even Christians can't get along. If you were the Devil, you'd be pretty proud of yourself right now causing so much communication. Nobody, even Christians, don't really even know who God is. Think about it. Probably 99% of Christians are mostly wrong and there's that one obscure group that everyone hates, that's probably right. If you were the devil, that's how you'd do it. The more confusion you cause, the more you win. The more hatred and disapproval you cause, the more you win. The more you can make others cast out, or say they're not like or a part of you, you win. It's that simple.

I think Volbeat is saying that certain spiritual beliefs are merely myths....
Essentially, that we as people have ourselves, not any other forces, to thank and/or blame for our own actions and outcomes/consequences. Definitely interesting.....& a Kick-Ass Song, no matter what your or my beliefs may be!!!!!

This song is about Jesus (God) and the devil walking hand in hand here on earth. He also states that he doesnt need any of them. Beyond Hell Above Heaven. I think he is denouncing the seperation between good and evil. Keep your soul. Long live metal.
