for me this is love song that never telling her that you love for him/her is over, maybe on her lifestlye is differrent in each other, but she/he decide to let it go because he/she is shy.

To me, this song is about a guy chasing a gal but it is not working out. He contemplates that giving up would be the easier path but he considers that it would be painful thinking about their possible future (what my life would be holding you close to me)

In my opinion, it’s about a guy who has a feeling for someone but he can’t tell it to her. It says they are worlds apart. Possibly they are far away from each other or their worlds are totally different. Perhaps they have differences in personalities, likes, dislikes, etc.
It talks about love. Listen carefully and you will get the meaning of this song. -
