Song Released: 2012
Minus the Machine Lyrics
-
I the am it is talking about the overuse of tec like cell phones and "we hold the world in the palm of our hand" see ware I'm going
-
Following the theme of most of the album, it appears to be about the arrogance of mankind, and their rise against God.
The "Machine" being a reference to the term Deus Ex Machina- God through machine- which is a rather frustrating storytelling device in greek plays: The story resolves through an act of God.
The lyrics fall into place after that, mankind is arrogant, and want to be their own gods, they reach to the sky. And, like icarus, they fall.
The next song, battle lust, conveys that message, followed by forever fields- also a reference to the greeks, And backlash being about God's delayed wrath against man for their arrogance.
