10 Years: Soma Meaning
Soma Lyrics
Setting dates with early graves
These spinning plates will one day break
Warning signs tomorrows
Running on time borrowed
Mother's not married, so father be wary
Of what you preach

This album will always be emotional for me. I listened to it a lot right before I hit my rock bottom. I had a 7 year stretch of doing every drug I could get my hands on but meth is what really brought me down quick.
In the last few days before I got sober (March 10, 2016) the lyrics really hit me hard "stay asleep at the wheel and never care to know, the crash is coming" I knew something big was coming. I was either going to die or get arrested if I didn't change something quick. I thought if I keep doing what I'm doing, the crash is coming and I am destined to see a tragedy. -
"Soma" has an odd meaning but can be interpreted in many different ways. "Stay asleep at the wheel and never care to know the crash is coming." This lyric can indicate drunk driving, and someone can already tell they'll get in a huge car accident. According to Google, Soma is a type of a drug, and in the lyrics it states "smoke and haze," indicating that this person is drunk driving and the person needs to "look away" before the crash hits. The singer also asks "Are we destined to see a tragedy?" also referring to the coming car crash.

What can they mean by
"Setting dates with early graves, these spinning plates will one day break"?
also,
"Mother's not married, so father be wary Of what you preach"
"Quick to have the trigger pulled Who will be accountable?" -
"We wonder when the end is coming, and we're chasing the apocalypse or the rapture. It makes great movies and television, but we live in a self-destructive manner. We don't want to be held accountable for anything, be extreme consumers, and not think about the next generation that has to grow up in this place." - Jesse
