Adam Lambert: Whataya Want From Me Meaning
Whataya Want From Me Lyrics
Whataya want from me
Yeah I'm afraid whataya want from me
Whataya want from me
There might have been a time
When I would give myself away
Oooh once upon a time I didn't give a damn
But now, here we are so...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think these lyrics are about somebody who is confused about their feelings. He is afraid that things are moving a little too fast for him (‘slow it down’) and that he is afraid. Perhaps afraid of commitment or getting in too deep too quickly for him. In the past he might have given up on this relationship, but he has come to realize that his partner is too valuable to blow off.
In spite of the fact that he is afraid of the commitment he begs his partner to persevere with the relationship as he is trying to sort himself out and doesn’t want to lose the love while he is doing so. He is mixed up and needs a little more time and understands that the fault lies with him and not his lover. He wants his lover to persevere with the relationship. -
This song feels like it’s about someone who really fucked up in a relationship (or friendship)
He saying to slow it down because he’s afraid his mistake will cause the relationship to end abruptly and possibly in bad terms
He reflects on a time where he Didn’t care about the consequences of his actions but after seeing how said actions decimated the relationship he is begging to have a chance to redeem himself . When he said “it messed me up need a second to breathe” he feels like all hope is lost because he lost the only person he could consider a friend/partner/whatever. He finally catches his breath when after a while of not being with or in communication with that person decides to come around and hear him out . He admits his faults but feels he can’t make amends for them. He realizes life is really not the same without this person and apologizes for the shortcomings. Meanwhile he hopes after he does some work on himself perhaps something else could grow or even remain on coordial terms, but for now he just pleads that they stay coming in and out of his life on occasion as he actually begins to appreciate what he once had .
Idk that’s just my 2 cents

I think this song is about a couple who are going through tough times. Adam 'playing' both parts. As we all know, Adam is openly gay. And for him to choose between a girl and a guy for this is hard. So Adam 'plays' both roles. In the beginning of the video, you see a casual Adam sitting in the house. He sings the first few lines. Then, you see Adam playing at a concert. It also looks like concert Adam is yelling. Not the lyrics, but in general. This song is amazing. The video is very confusing when you watch it for the first time. Then, the next few times, it's just Adam doing what he does best; Singing his heart oi
