Alan Walker: Play Meaning
Song Released: 2016
Play Lyrics
We used to hide under the covers
Serenade each other
With careless melodies
Something buried deep inside us
The?major?and the minor
We're?like piano keys
[Chorus]
You played for me
You?played for me, Oh-oh
You played for me
I...

#1 top rated interpretation:From watching the music video, it’s could be having a connection with your younger self, (being careless, a melody that never leaves, life moving on) but you are always able to connect with your younger self, or a past lover. I originally thought that first, but that doesn’t line up with the music video. Very nostalgic for me, and hearing the beginning of euro dancer in the beginning.

#2 top rated interpretation:According to the video ,the song is all about how they worked hard on their music. The video is also about teamwork and the music is like a magic that everybody is enjoying it.
Careless melodies, piano keys, the song that never leaves . It's all about the music. If you read the lyrics carefully you will say it's only about a lover but it ain't. According to me ,
They used to hide themselve and play careless melodies they like, the talent is deep inside them and they are like piano keys with sounds it means the talent of music is in them and they can feel it everywhere.
They couldn't stop world from turning and in the video they were talking about Eurodancer which they used to listen earlier and now all things had changed and most of us forget about old tracks or songs and like to listen new one and for them these are like going for new and forgetting old which they should also listen and they are little bit sad so, they can't stop this but they still have a feeling of all old songs because the songs are still in their heart like a memory. They hear all songs because they are a true artist and music lover and we should be like them going for new songs and remembering the old one also on which they had worked hard and as a true lover of music music should be in our heart like a memory which stays till the end and then we all fans will say to all artist that yes you played for me means when we will understand the value of the song and feel the music rather than video or something else and also thinking about hardwork they have done in preparing songs only for us after understanding we will say you played for me or you played that song for me.
'You played for me'.
It may be that even if they die they will remain in our heart forever as music like most of Avicii's fan still remember him because of his music . They will also remain in our heart forever as music.
Alan walker and his teammates are legend .
Thank you Alan walker and others for this beautiful song .

He had a friend and they grew apart that's the second verse so the first must be about how close They were

I think the was a bout childhood thing and having someone to hold on and emotional when u listen to verse 1 that we used
-
I think it could be about when they children like "We used to hide under the covers" They talk about the past. And "The major and the minor, we're like piano keys" is about the music they have in there story. It doesn't have to be a love story. It could just be about to friends. I just think play is a great song that have a different meaning for everyone. That is just my idea.

I have never watched the music video, and at first, I had no idea what was happening...but my sister says that ¨you played for me¨ means that the guy actually cheated on his current girlfriend to be with her and she is kind of mad that he did that to a person and kind of broke up with him.
