Alice Cooper: I Never Cry Meaning
I Never Cry Lyrics
It makes me shiver to the bones it shakes me babe
It's just a heartache that got cought in my eye
and you know I never cry I never cry
Sometimes I drink more than I need

An alcoholic who kills his pain through endless nights of alcohol binges until late into the night where he passes out to waken with the sound of the tv broadcasting white noise.
His binges become so severe that he becomes almost inhuman and feels no pain what so ever Until one day he realizes he has no one but himself.
His way of apologizing for being an asshole is through the words, I wish I were blind." This part symbolizes the destruction he knows he created when he was drunk and he has no wish to see the anguish he causes when he is under the black cloud of alcoholism. The heartache that got caught in his eye.
This song is so awesome I swear as a former alcoholic it has helped me through some difficult times. I have no idea if it was written to be symbolic of the effects of alcoholism but to me it sounds like he is begging for forgiveness for the many nights of being a fricked out drunk. -
Straight from the words of Alice himself, this song was an alcoholic confession. plain and simple.

Yes that is right guy above me but also to add that when he was still an alcoholic he realized that he could not remember the last time he cried.

Well you know Vince was an alcoholic and his marriage suffered a great deal from it. Fortunately he quit alcohol and saved his marriage and kept his family together.
