Don't Change Your Plans Lyrics
That I won't be on this planet
For very long
I really like it here
I'm quite attached to it
I hope I'm wrong
All I really wanna say
Is you're the reason I wanna stay

“Sometime I get the feeling I won’t be on this planet for very long. I really like it here, I’m quite attached to it, I hope I’m wrong” – A somewhat romanticized pity party for me. Not really my true feelings, just a bit of a hook.
"All I really wanna say is you're the reason I wanna stay" - She is what I am currently living for.
"I loved you before I met you, and I met you just in time 'cause there was nothing left" - I knew that I already knew and loved her from the first moment I met her, it truly was love before first sight. I was coming off several years of lonely, bad relationship experiences, and my ability to believe in love was gone. She helped me find it.

In the apartment, a true beginning of a new, more permanent phase of us, I realized that thi -
Much of Ben Folds' music is autobiographical, and just about all of it is literal, so you can take it to mean exactly what the words say. The character from this song just got to LA and arrived at the apartment where his loved one was waiting for him. But when he got there, he realized that she was the only reason he wanted to leave it all behind back home, and maybe back home is where he really needs to be.
This song gets me wistful for my home after I moved 1000 miles away from all my friends and family for a girl. I didn't do what he did, though. I'm still here with her. -
I think this is a song about a guy that's used to moving from place to place. One day he meets a girl, falls in love, but then realises he's gonna have to move again soon because it's his destiny to travel and meet and help new people. "I love you good bye"
