Ben Folds Five: Lullabye Meaning
Lullabye Lyrics
The world has more for you
Than it seems
Goodnight, goodnight
Let the moonlight take the lid off your dreams
We took a small flight
In the middle of the night
From one tiny place to another
And my parents...

One of Ben's greatest songs, in my opinion. Could have something to do with the fact that I sang it to my daughter when she was a baby. Ben tells the story of a trip he took when he was very young. It never says where he is going, or why, probably because it doesn't really matter. The trip on the airplane is the destination. The image of the "tall, dark man" singing in deep, rich tones is a beautiful image, I think. Love it.
