Boys Like Girls: Dance Hall Drug Meaning
Dance Hall Drug Lyrics
She just turned 16
Stuck in the moment
Dead at the scene
And it's on tonight
This is the life that you wanted, right?
So turn off all the lights
Dressed up just like a movie star
At all the parties they'll know who you...

The serious side of Five Minutes to Midnight comes out in this track, as you watch the relationship progress. Hero/Heroine is about how fast life can turn around, and how someone just being there can save you. I am usually very closed-off when it comes to relationships and don't let many people in. For some reason this particular girl turned my life around 180 degrees without even trying.
this is what he said it means. you can get it at:

It's about this image that everyone has of 'growing up' or 'being grown' like doing all the wrong things because everyone says it's kewl and getting away with it makes you cool or grown. It's about realizing that not everything about being 'grown up' is all glitz and glamour. There's a lot in coming into your responsibility as you get older...including avoiding drugs, like ex or speed or whatever. It's about someone that's making all the wrong decisions. They think that they're the right ones because of the this 'image' pasted onto their brain of how life should go once you get a certain age but now they understand that it's all wrong. Sex, drugs, abuse...none of it is cool. There's a lot of maturity and responsibility to growing up. Not many people understand that.

A girl is so excited to grow up and wants to have a close relationship. She meets a guy and thinks she loves him. So they have sex, and she regrets it immediately. She realizes he only wanted her for sex but she does it anyway because she thinks it's love.

This song is about a girl who thinks she fell in love with this guy. but really he's just "a dance hall drug" meaning he's a druggy and just wants her for sex. The singer is basically telling her he's not worth it. "don't it feel like somethings not right in his kiss tonight?" somethings no right he wants you for sex. They go wherever and have sex. but she's thinking she's made a big mistake and she should wait. (till marriage or whatever) then I don't really know what happens after that.
