    To me, this song means something like this:
    a guy feels as though by being in love with a girl, she has saved him (his heroine). and he believes that she has those same feelings. She considers him her 'hero'. They saved each other with their love.

    You know how those pheromones rush through your body when you first enter into a relationship?? She is a heroine to him because her love seems like a drug (heroin) and has somehow saved him. To me, this song resembles the beginning of a relationship, when everything seems to go perfectly right and your body kind of goes through that lusty high. She's all he can think about. He wasn't expecting love to come along, he was guarded and she broke through and despist of his past, she loved him for who he is. As for the sweetest sin... I think that it feels too good to be true... maybe it feels wrong for him to be so happy considering whatevers going on in his life. Maybe he doesn't feel like he deserves this love.

    this means he really liked this girl for a while and she never liked him back untill now, but its too late. But he is thinking of giving her a second chance and he is so confused. And its too late for him to stop liking her because his feeling are too strong for to long. He's glad and confused that she likes him.

    This means that he's not going to explain or lie to her. He has an odd past. He's knows that he shouldn't like/love her this much, but he does. He doesn't understand why she is liking him now out of all the times he spoke to her about being together

    He is begining to feel so happy when he's around her and gave her a shot. He still feels kind of used, but not anymore really. He's still confused, but his sinful love for her overpowers that and he loves her with all his heart.

    He is a narcissist. She is his supply. He drains her of all her good qualities, Hero and she is making him look good and feel better about himself, she is HEROINE.

    After reading the other interpretations, I figured out the hard way, the song is saying to boys what Disney movies Enchanted and Frozen showed the girls; the first love won’t always be right. The lead singer is saying, love can be confusing, but you must experience - and learn from - some pain in order to find true love. Needless to say, music groups hiding the real meanings of our favorite songs of theirs? That’s pretty sneaky. As for the part where the boy says “You’re my heroine”, not only does that make my face heat up(in a sweet[good] way, though) and I can’t stop smiling

    From another point of view, "heroine" might not be talking about an actual person, but rather the drug heroine. It also fits the lyrics, like the part 'your love is the sweetest sin' because it's wrong to take drugs. Also the lines 'I never thought that you could break me apart' and 'I got closet filled up to the brim, with the ghosts of my past and skeletons'. The guy has a trouble past, and he never imagines he would turn to drugs.

    I heard that this was the hidden meaning of the song actually...love it anyway :)

    Personally, I believe this song is saying he was so in love but she crushed him so he shut down and had a hard time getting over her. Then a new girl came and reached out to him but he was still locked in. Then he realizes that he has to get over his old love and move on and that this new girl makes him so happy that he could fly. At the end he is over girl one and realizes that the new girl is his perfect match and savior from his depression caused by his last love, who did not love him and was not worth it.

    i think this means that he is a super hero and a heroine is like a woman super hero so its like he is saying they are meant to be together. like they are perfect for eachother

    Well boys like girls songs arent very complex and therefore they are fairly easy to interpret and I did a line by line but here is the basic summary a guy thinks he has found the love of his life until she leaves him he is hurt and angry and keeps his heart under lock and key so to speak then he meets a new girl he is hesitant to let her in after the first girl broke his heart but he quickly realizes she is very different and that going around with a chip on his shoulder closing everyone out because of one girl was stupid

    I think that this song is about a guy who loved a girl once but it was in the past, and now she realized that she has feelings for him but it may be too late. But it isnt because hes giving her a chance. In the lyrics it says "You want to get inside you can get in line" meaning that there were people before her that wanted to get into his heart but he wouldnt let them, but she may be different "But not this time" and then as the song progresses he sees that she is making him happier and saving him from his past. He's not confused.

    The part with the closet filled up the the brim and the part I don't know why youd even try is about how he has done a lot of bad things in his past and he doesn't know why this girl loves him but he's glad she does anyway. The part where he says our love is the sweetest sin means there love might be wrong like one of them is cheating and this love is an affair...
