Drunk Kid Catholic Lyrics
They’re all about the same
They’re waiting for something
Hoping to be saved
Well I have been happy the past couple days
Just thinking of the women who’ve taken your place
And every night I think I certaintly won't...
-
I believe this song is about hopelessness. Conor Oberst was raised as a catholic. He relates Catholics and drunks as basically needing and feeling the same thing. They are both searching for something greater in their life, to get away from it all. Whether is be God or alcohol or drugs. And they all think their life is going to ruins. It's a truly sad song to listen to because of all of the despair set inside this song.
