Bullet For My Valentine: Cries in Vain Meaning
Cries in Vain Lyrics
A thousand tears tonight
But nothing seems to quench the thirst,
you keep on craving
But now I need an answer to my prayers
And you're not there
So why I think you listen (Listen!!)
Has no one told you
Your...

Well I think that the speaker is someone who cuts. The audience is god throughout half the song. I think that he cuts and is asking god to help him, saying that he isn't there for him when he really is. He should know how god is always with him but his cries are in vain because he has lost his faith. During the chorus it is in another point of view. The speaker is someone telling the person how his cries are in vain. That he has lost his faith and that god is there for him. Very religious baised but hope my interpurtation is correct.

i think he's having a hard time in his life and he wants someone to listen and he's saying this hurts and this sucks listen to me cause no one else will and i think he feels that his cries are in vain because he feels that nothing is changing (stories they told you still run through your viens) and he doesn't know true from false i wouldn't necessarily say he hates God than again i'm not him i think he's kinda pissed at him cause his pain won't end thats what i personally think

I beleive that the song is about a person heavily conflicted with God and religeon...I don't agree with the message of this song at all, but this is just the message that the band is trying to convey.
He believes that God literally does not answer his prayers, and throughout the song, Matt Tuck(the singer) repeatedly sings (HAS NO ONE TOLD YOU...your cries are all in vain...) he also says "I need an answer to my prayers and your not there."
Adding more to the song, he also says "Nothing seems to quench the thirst you keep on craving" "Lord I can't disguise, the look inside my eyes, the more I try to look away the more I'm staring..." This is explaining that he thinks God is trying to put him through misery and God likes it...also saying that his pain and his need for God at that moment is sincere and the more he tries to make himself feel better by forcefully ignoring and not believing in God, the more it hurts him that he is ignoring God because he knows its not right.
