Kiss the Girl Lyrics

Some people think the perfect fantasy
is the girl next door,
but my dream girl has got the keys
to my heart and home.
I never dreamed that in a million years
she'd settle for me.

This room's to lend,
I only advertised this morning,
but...

This particular song is about the episode "The Lodger". It's about this guy name Craig and a girl names Sophie (and of course the Doctor).

"But my dream girl has got the keys to my heart and home.." This refers to the fact that Sophie has keys to Craig's house and his heart. Craig loves Sophie, but Sophie doesn't know.

"I never dreamed that in a million years
    She'd settle for me..."
This refers to the end of the episode (spoiler alert!) Sophie and Craig end up together at the very end.

"This room's to lend, I only advertised this morning,
But here you are with three months rent and references that shine beyond belief..."
This refers to when the Doctor shows up at Craig's door. Craig has a room for rent that he advertised in the early morning, and the Doctor pretty much shows up and says, "Hey, I'm here to rent this room." He already has enough money to cover the rent for three months.

"And now you're making omelets and you ask me, 'Who's that girl on the fridge?' And I'm telling my life story... "
This refers to after the Doctor sees the room, and the goes into the kitchen and starts making Omelets. He then sees a picture of Sophie on the fridge and asks Craig who it is. So, Craig explains who she is which leads into the chorus of him explaining to the Doctor that she's not his girlfriend. She's just a friend. He wants to tell her how he feels but he just can't find the words or the time to tell her.

"A quiet night in, but we won't even know you're here,
    No phones, no interruptions,
Maybe now's my chance to tell her how I feel.
But now you're here and I can't think,
So why not stay and have a drink?..."
So, Sophie comes over to Craig's and Craig is finally ready to tell her how he feels about her. The Doctor says he'll be in his room and that they won't know he was there. But, the Doctor eventually pops up resulting in Craig not being able to think, so he doesn't end up telling her how he feels. They ask the doctor if he'd stay and have a drink , so he does.

"And now she's going to live with monkeys,
    See the world and disappear,
Am I what's keeping her here?..."
So Sophie explains how she'd like to go help the monkeys, but she doesn't want to leave home. The Doctor persuades her to go, and she ends up changing her mind and wanting I go. Craig thinks he's keeping her here if he says he doesn't want her to go.

    "I can't take this anymore.
I want you to go, cause you're talking to a cat,
And everybody loves you, and you're better than me at football and my job,
And now Sophie's all "Monkeys, monkeys, monkeys"
You're going to take her away from me."
Craig tells the Doctor that he wants him to leave because he's talking to a cat (which was spying on the upstairs neighbor for him). The Doctor plays a game of football with Craig and some of Craig's friends and ends up being better at it then Craig. The Doctor goes into work for Craig when Craig becomes ill. Craig brings up the whole monkey situation and says that the Doctor is gonna take her away from him because the Doctor persuaded her to go and help the monkeys.

"Alright, I didn't want to do this, But it might be the only way
The world will end if you don't concentrate on why you want to stay.
So, Mr. Sofa Man, what's keeping you here?..."
So something is going on with the upstairs neighbor (not going to reveal too much). The world will end if Craig doesn't concentrate on why he wants to stay at home and not travel the world. He then calls him, "Mr. Sofa Man" because Craig confessed he wants to stay where he's at nod never leave.

    "Sophie!
    I don't wanna leave,
    Sophie!
    I can't leave,
    Sophie!
    I love you Sophie!..."
So, Craig finally admits that Sophie is the reason why he wants to stay where he is, and also finally confesses his love for her.

    "But what about the monkeys?
Oh, not again, not when the world's about to burn,
Just for God's sake kiss the girl!..."
Sophie reveals that she has mutual feelings for Craig, and then Craig brings up the monkeys by asking, "What about the monkeys?"
The Doctor says, "Just for God's sake kiss the girl!"

And that is the ending of the song. Hopefully that helped! xx

They are talking about the episode, "The Lodger" in Series 5 where the Doctor moves in with this normal guy and sort of takes over his life. It's a really good episode. If you haven't seen it you should.
