Coldplay: A Message Meaning
A Message Lyrics
Love to the loveless shown
And it goes on
You don't have to be alone
Your heavy heart
Is made of stone
And it's so hard to see, clearly
You don't have to be on your own
You don't have to be on your own
And I'm not...

#1 top rated interpretation:Its a love song ("My song is love") for a girl who never shares her feelings with him. This girl seems scared. She's denies any feelings that she has and completely ignores his dire attempts to her. It's so hard to get to her..N he's not able to see wats within her heart coz her "heavy heart is made of stone"...so he isn't able to understand her clearly, but still he loves her a lot for who she is...n so he doesn't want her to be alone;"to be one her own".., but he can't stop...
He doesn't wanna wait any longer..he just wants to be sure what she feels about this "Message"...
(I just love the simple music in this song)
And he's not gonna take back whatever he said just now.He means every single word of it.n he'll stand by what he feels about her.He clearly states that she's The One he's aiming at...all his roads end at her...and he has to get that message to her..
He has never loved someone so much so he calls it "love unknown"...this is proven by the lines "I'm on fire for you, clearly" and "Im nothing on my own"
And he's not gonna wait.He has no intention to delay this message.cos it might get too late. He's gonna proudly, positively and confidently say that he loves her and he's nothing alone "On a platform, I'm gonna stand and say"
And he asks her to please come back to him... -

#2 top rated interpretation:Actually its not a love song by a girl or boy to another lover. It's actually a song of spiritual means. Remember that Chris Martin is a big Christian fanatic and that this song was inspired by a Christian hymn. Its about God/Jesus talking to the lost soul. In fact many of the lines in this song you will find similar ones in the bible.
First section is about Gods/Jesus' love for us and we don't even know about it, and we feel like we are all alone in this world.
However coldplay songs are written to relate to the spiritual and romantics out there. And while I believe its a bit more spiritual, it has both of these themes in the song. I however like to see it as a good christian song. -
someone is desperatly in love and is willing to do anything for her. be she doesnt want to admit the way she feels or he tries and tries to prove his love to her.

"From a hymn by Samuel Crossman :
'My Song is love unknown,
My Saviour's love to me;
Love to the loveless shown,
That they might lovely be.' "
So...Chris was inspired for this song from a Christian hymn....indicating it is not a romantic other directed message, but a song sung to himself...to his own soul...perhaps about his need to allow love/others in. Consider this: "Your (my) heavy heart is made of stone. You (I) don't have to be on your own. You're (I'm) the target I'm aimin' at. You (I) don't have to be alone."
What an awesome song. -
