Coldplay: A Sky Full Of Stars Meaning
Song Released: 2014
A Sky Full Of Stars Lyrics
I'm gonna give you my heart
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
'Cause you light up the path
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do,...

This song was written at the time of Chris and Gweneth's 'conscious uncoupling'; I believe the song is to show Chris's unconditional and undying love towards Gweneth. He describes (maybe his past) feelings towards Gweneth saying that 'you're a sky full of stars', 'I'm going to give you my heart' and 'I wanna die in your arms'.
And even though they both know they need to part ('go on and tear me apart') and move away from each other, he will always 'see her' in a 'sky full of stars'. In other words, no matter how far they move apart, Chris will always be able to find her in the metaphorical sky full of stars. -
I think he is talking about his fans and how they are a sky full of stars.

The lead singer was raised in an Evangelistic Christian family. He strayed away from Christianity when he left home, but stated his growing closer to God. The song is about Christ, how He lights up our paths, similar to the verse "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". "I don't care if you tear me apart", might be referring to people and human beings who are against you. He doesn't care, because God is "a Sky Full of Stars" and "a Heavenly view"

I think this song has two meanings... A part of this song is about his fans, who light up wherever he performs, at a night concert, stadium, park, etc-- and he is okay that we tear him apart, because he knows its out of love, and therefore he also gives us his heart, through his lyrics, music, and presence. The other meaning in the song is about that one very special light, special star amongst all the stars/fans-- whom he feels so blessed even to know she is out there, he sees her, he feels her, he loves her-- but there is some kind of distance and sadness and loss there too-- but its a beautiful song, with multiple meanings, and this is my interpretation of it.

I think the song is about a person whom loves another with all his heart but the feeling is no longer mutual. She wants to move on with her life but all he can think of is her. The thought of this kills him from the inside but at the same time his love for her is too strong, so it doesn't matter as she will always be his bright spot.
