Life in Technicolor Lyrics
-
The technicolor camera was invented in 1932, one year before the Third Reich began. When we think of technicolor, we often think of television. Movies, especially during this time period signified an escape from reality. When you went to the movies or the theatre, you desperately wanted to forget all your problems. It was like covering up your problems with a bandaid for a short while. Hiding them and ignoring them rather than addressing them. After World War One, the war left the world torn, desolate, destroyed, and hungry. Money was useless, people starved, and governments buckled. People wished desperately that these horrific problems would go away. No country was left more desolate during the Great Depression than Germany. After the war, the Treaty of Versailles ensured that Germany would pay full reparations for the war they had caused. So, they were left starving, and in need of a new government. A government that could protect them, and lift them out of their suffering. So, with paper money in their fireplaces(money was cheaper than firewood), they waited for technicolor. And it came in the form of a man named Adolf Hitler. The point of this story is to say that this song symbolizes the illusion that the Germans were experiencing in 1932. The illusion that Hitler would save them. However, at the very end of the song, it transitions to the darker tone of Cemeteries in London, where the Germans realize that electing Hitler may have been the worst mistake they could have made.

Everything is a technical
So you need to use your techniques
So that you will see all the beautiful COLORS.
Gaya nga sabi ni chef ED or chef CRAZY.
Mag hintay ka lang at magiging makulay rin ang lahat.
