Coldplay: Paradise Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Paradise Lyrics
Oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo.
When she was just a girl,
She expected the world,
But it flew away from her reach,
So she ran away in her sleep.
And dreamed of...
-
The song to me is simply about a young girl going through some rough stuff and her only means of escape is sleep which brings her dreams of a paradise.
The paradise she dreams about fills her with such hope that even when she awakens, she knows better times are ahead. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think it's about a girl thats going through a rough time, and all she can do is dream for a better reality, Paradise.
-
I think it is about suicide. the organ suggests a church setting, such as a funeral. "So she ran away in her sleep." enough said. And bullets catch in her teeth. suicide of a gun. but in the end she chooses not to.
Still lying underneath the stormy skies.
She said oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.
I know the sun's set to rise. -
I think it means that the when mother earth was still young it was a paradise and when humans came she expected better things from the human world but development of technology in the human world killed the natural paradise [the wheel breaks the butterfly symbolizing modernization and development of new technology killing nature] .
-
This song is for all (probably non English speaking) human beings who didn't understand the lyrics in their previous songs. So, it was decided that the lyrics would be simplified.
It talks about how life looks like a paradise ahead of you when you are a kid. When you grow up, reality strikes and you realize you are in the deepest crisis and chaos unsues.
This song takes you down the memory lane to a time when all your anxiety and depression and trouble were behind you.
It's also about dreaming great things but losing your reality.
