Coldplay: Up With the Birds Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Up With the Birds Lyrics
The birds they sang, at break of day.
"Start again," I hear them say.
It's so hard to just walk away.
The birds they sang, all a choir,
"Start again a little higher.".
It's a spark in a sea of gray.
The sky is...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is a love song about a love that could not be. They were madly in love but for some reason either they were too young, or their families didn't want them together or some other reason they couldn't be together. And he is singing that all his life turned to suffering and pain as he loved her and missed her but the birds were the one thing that remained beautiful they were that beacon of hope that their story could one day be possible. So as his reality is sad and lonely every morning he hears the birds sing beautifully "The birds they sing, the break of day... I hear them say it's so hard to just walk away" because he had to walk away from her life. "It's a spark in a sea of grey" Those birds are the only thing beautiful but it means that there is still something good out there. And because he is suffering so much without her he just wants to escape that and go to a place where he can be happy so he thinks about flying away with those beautiful birds "My arms turn wings all those clumsy things send me up to the wonderful world, and then i'm up with the birds" And then the song changes and stops being so sad because he wants her and that is ultimately what he has to do no matter what. "Might have to go where they don't know my name" He will do whatever it takes to be with her again even if it means leaving that society where he lives and is "somebody" even if he has to go to an unknown place where nobody knows him he wants HER that is all he needs. "Float all over the world just to see her again" "And I won't show or fear any pain, even though all my armor might rust in the rain" because they've hurt each other in the past he wears an "armor" to stop getting hurt sometimes by pretending he doesn't care and that has helped him through all this time but it is not worth it because he is not happy so he doesn't care if all that falls apart. And finally the ending " A simple plot but I know one day good things are coming our way" So he will do this but it is not easy it is a plan for their future, but he knows they will be together, they will end up together and their love will succeed everything.

I think the song is about hope. Maybe a relationship had to end for the good of everyone involved. For me the song represents the courage to pick yourself up and keep going no matter what has happened in the past. The word "her" in the song could represent love, passion or happiness as the person in the song has obviously lost something that meant the world to them. Ultimately a pursuit of happiness and a positive outlook on the future."one day good things are coming our way" Which could mean that both people involved will find happiness elsewhere. The lyric that really hits me the most though is "and i wont show or feel any pain, even though all my armour might rust in the rain" To it represents having the courage to find what you lost again and having faith that you will find what you are looking for again.

IT'S NOT ABOUT LOVE
The birds mean the good things, this song is a message 'my arms turned wings, oh those clumsy things send me up to that wonderfull world', means that you can reach happyness on your own. When Chris says 'might have to go where they don't know my name, float all over the world just to see her again', the "her" means happyness, you may have to float all over the world, but you will find it -
Up with the birds it is about the love of a man for a woman who died. This woman was a companion warrior for this man so when she died the man has to complete all the dreams they dreamed, achieve all the goals they marked, and get all the happiness they wanted. "The birds they said, all of a choir, start again a little higher..." it means that the man doesn't have to give up no matter what, "it is a spark in a sea of gray" means the hope in the middle of all sadness or violence or bad things in the world. "The birds they sang, break of day 'Start again' I hear them say It's so hard to just walk away..." means that no matter the sadness of the man was, there is no turning back because he made a promise to the woman that he will continue fighting in this life.
When the song is fired up the message is the hope of the man, when the death of him finally came, he can reunite with his belowed lover in a place where nobody knows his name (according to the bible in the heaven nobody knows each other about the life in the earth, so everyone gets a new name and a new body of glory), float all over the world might means live in the heaven above the earth. "Even though all my armour might rust in the rain" the armor might means the physical body in this earth, so in the heaven the body no more exists. "A simple plot, but I know one day
Good things are coming our way" it is the final message of hope for this life.
