Dancing Nancies Lyrics

Could I have been
A parking lot attendant
Could I have been
A millionaire in bel air
Could I have been
Lost somewhere in paris
Could I have been
Your little brother
Could I have been anyone other than me
Could I have been oh, anyone...

Dave wrote this song while in germany when he saw two prostitutes dancing from his taxi cab window. He asked the taxi driver if the women were prostitutes. The driver replied saying they were prostitutes, but they were not women... So dave wrote it about how that could be anyone out there and it could be him or he could be someone else. Nancy is also a slang word for a gay man... Hense the name dancing nancy, or dancing homosexual

What's the use in worrying, what's the use in hurrying....In my opinion Dave is counting his blessings... he could have wound up like someone less fortunate then
himself ....he is expressing joy that he is able to " sing & dance 4 U !!!!!

This song is about the road people take in life. The song starts out "well could I have been a parking lot attendent, could I have been a millionare in bel air" He is basically saying What if I did this, what if I did that? Where would I have ended up and would my life be different?
