Dave Matthews Band: Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin) Meaning
Song Released: 2018
Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin) Lyrics
Naked, afraid
Young mother screams and pushes you
The day you came
Oh joy begin
Weak little thing
More precious there’ll be nothing, no
Oh joy begin
Let’s not forget these early days
Remember we begin the same
We lose...

I think its a pretty straightforward song. Everyone starts the same as a clean slate so we all began the same. So why is there so much fear and pain in the world. It's a song about wanting world peace. Fear and pain cause war, but they are not something we are born with, so why is there so much hate in the world.
-
When we are born, we are all born the same, regardless of race, religion, or economic status.
We suffer as humans due to the fear and pain we experience as adults. We forget the joy we felt when we were young and innocent. Remember those early days to pull you out of your pain and feel joy again. -
Started off as friends and fell in love. Fighting back feelings and affection for someone you love and yearn for, but cannot be with. You avoid this person for those reasons and every time you see the person, you pretend it’s nothing, and try to start over to being friends.

A powerful song that makes Dads cry. Especially if they lost one...
