All Washed Out Lyrics
Say, say, we've been drowning for so long
Do you remember how we used to love the rain?
Hey, we'd go out, and we'd run wild
But it never rains in California
We never go dancing anymore...
-
This song is most likely about the singer and his lover being separated by moving. Since the lead singer, Nick Wold, lives in California, this is where he found inspiration. From personal experience, loving somebody and being around them often felt good (do you remember how we used to love the rain), and it's sad to see them move away. In the song, the singer says that all of his memories slowly fade away, making him want his girl back even more.
