Elton John: Sacrifice Meaning
Song Released: 1989
Sacrifice Lyrics
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptations strong
Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands
Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look...
-
"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."
-Matthew 5: 27 & 28
The song "Sacrifice" is about a married man who falls in love all over again when coming across other women in his life. He dreams of what could be and the sacrifice that will have to take place in his marriage to make that love for the other women come true. So he settles it in his mind where no one can see but him (and God...lol). No harm is done in his marriage bcuz it's all in his head. No tears, no sadness and no sacrifice of his marriage.
BUT, Jesus explains that what is in a man's heart makes the man. God know's the heart of every man. This is a good warning for all men to know to strengthen the love in a marriage. Get it?
If He wouldn't have said it we wouldn't have known...Peace.
