Evanescence: Catherine (unknown song) Meaning
Catherine (unknown song) Lyrics
Something still belongs to me
I'm not afraid of those who kill the body
For still they cannot kill the soul
You may beat me down
Just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you
Dreams are illusions
They fade...

Amy Mee claims that the title of the song is only "You can't kill the me in you". She doesn't know where the "Catherine" came from.
Though I believe this song is about somebody who's about to commit suicide because they try to escape an unhealthy relationship. But the other lover tells them killing themselves is useless, because it only kills the body and not the soul.
Since Amy left a print in the soul of her lover, she tells him that even if he tries to forget him, that print will remain unconsciously. -
I feel like this song is about leaving a toxic relationship but a piece of the person stays with you forever

I'm pretty sure it's about a close friend or relative being murdered.but she had encountered it but never said a word. like the song states"I know a secret". May be she was called in by the police for a interagation?Or she might be sort of looking at Catherine's grave say you can't kill the soul and maybe she also encountered her in a ghostly presence. "Dreams are illusions they go away be fore you can catch them" is saying no matter how much you want your friend or relative to comeback you can't get them.

I think it is about either abortion "you can't kill the me in you", or about a friend who is suicidal and amy is trying to warn her?
