New Way to Bleed Lyrics
so you might earn forgiveness
You know your whole world is waiting
so why can't you speak?
I feel it coming over me
I'm still a slave to these dreams
Is this the end of everything
or just a new way to bleed
So...
-
I feel as though Amy/the character she's writing, is battling depression, and coming on an upward spiral, but no one believes she suffers, calling her a liar, so that upward spiral is halted because of their lack of faith.
She's knows she's depressed, (my heart, my life that you're calling a lie), and the New Way to Bleed can either be taken literally (self-harm) or figuratively (such as her self-loathing "bleeding out of her"), as she "can't take anymore" of the disbelief she's getting.
I personally take the New Way to Bleed line literally, she's hating herself for serving her twisted enemy (her depressed self), she's feeling pain that no one believes her, and she's tempted by suicide (third verse/bridge verse), wanting to be free of the burden she bears. -
It's a suicidal song. She's battling, and losing to, inner demons and her own nature.
'I feel it coming out of me; I'm still a slave to these dreams.
Is this the end of everything...or just a new way to bleed?'
Trying to end it all, sick of the downward spiral her life has turned into, and decides to end it all (almost certainly via wrist-slashing, but could be pills - whatever it is it's a slow, 'feminine' stile of suicide)
'Can't you feel the ground caving in?
Freedom...give us a reason to believe again!'
She feels her life is ebbing (ground caving in) and her final moments see her wondering if it's finally going to end, or if it's just going to be another in a long list of scars she's accrued to that point. What she really wants is freedom from the pain, and is willing to do anything to achieve that freedom - including end herself. -
I think it is about being in combat with one's own darkside. The "dream" that the narrator is "still a slave to" is the dream if defeating an enemy who cannot be defeated. "A new way to bleed" means another defeat, & "serve your twisted enemy" means giving in, while "freedom, freedom, can't you feel the ground caving in?" means a potential victory & "freedom, freedom, give us a reason to believe again" I think means sacrifice. Oh, and I think the entire second verse ("So go & tell all your friends...if it makes you feel...but it's my, my heart...I've played this game before & I can't take it anymore") is her talking to her enemy saying someday I will defeat you.

save your twisted enemy- so you might earn forgiveness -- like she's in conflict with the her darkside or someone elses - darkside is the twisted enemy. she feels like she needs to save it, her darkside or a person , so she could earn forgiveness (Amy said she holds feeling of guilt a lot) Though she knows she's free and the - The whole world is waiting - opened to her, she still can't speak or rather be free in someway(be free of feeling guilt) and she's talking to someone close to her, or all the people feeling trapped. further..I feel it coming over me - I'm still a slave to these dreams - Life on this Earth is not complete freedom, she can't run away from her darkside, and she's a slave to this life she has - that makes her unperfect. Is this the end of everything - she wonders if that's the way it is, hopeless Or just a New Way to Bleed - again searching release and a way out - New Way to Bleed. the next verse: So go and tell your friend that I'm a failure underneath - she's referring to a friend very close, maybe even Josh , because she can't escape her true or duel personality - and someone thinks that's a failure, and then If it makes you feel like a better man - it's ironical, speaking to someone who mocks her in some way. - But it's my heart, my life that you call it a lie - because Amy's always smiling and appears happy but on the other hand her songs that come from her innerself are her sadness, loneliness and darkness - for someone here it's a contradiction, and that's why that someone is calling her life a lie. She feels hurt because she knows she's stll true to her self - It's my heart, My Life. And then we go to - I've played this game before, and I can't take anymore - like someone already called her a liar( her way of living), maybe that was Ben Moody or whoever. And she does not want to play that game anymore.

Personally I think this song is about someone being tormented by a problem in their life, which has been cause by someone who used to be close to them. And after a while of dealing with the same issue's over and over again, they become stronger and learn to cope with it in a better way.
"I feel it coming out of me, I'm still a slave to these dreams. Is this the end of everything or just a New way to bleed"
