Evanescence: October Meaning
October Lyrics
Here I am, I have nothing left.
Though I've tried to forget, you're all that I am.
Take me home, I'm through fighting it.
Broken, lifeless
I give up, you're my only strength.
Without you, I can't go...
-
I think it could definitely be interpreted in more than one way. The song is obviously a love song. But there's no reason it can't be written in religious terms. They're allowed to have more than 2 spiritual songs, you know? ;] Heck, it could be both.
-
I would have to aggree with Immortalnight. She says that she can't lie anymore and she falls down before him which could mean she's tired of lying to herself that he's not the one to make it better. She says she's so sorry for being so bitter to him.
-
Sorry...I don't quite know the interpretation. But I do know that it's not about Christ. The only two spiritual songs they have is Whisper and Tourniquet.
-
I think she was deeply in love with someone and that someone died and she feels like she's lost everything, I don't know if that's the meaning but that's what I got from it.
-
I think she wrote it thinking in religious terms, but I do not interpret it in that way. I interpret it as a relationship, one that isn't good for her, so she strays, but has nowhere else to. She'd rather be with someone who isn't good for her, than with no one. I don't have any specific evidence within the lyrics that she is in fact in 'bad' relationship, but that's the feeling I get from the song.
-
I'll admit, before I saw some of these interpretations, I thought the song was about falling in love, but now I see it as finding a relationship with god. I've heard a few lyrics in some of her songs that deal with god, or at least that's how I see them. and well, I feel that she's a believer and that she did write this song about god. However, we'll never really know. It could be about something else....you never know.... but for now, I stick with the religious meaning. It fits well...
-
I definitely don't see it as religious. I think she pushed someone away. and now she's apologizing and pouring her heart out them.
-
I think this song is not about christ. I think it's about a past lover that can not be forgotten. Shes trying to forget about him. Hes all she thinks about. He probably likes someone else now. She knows she did something wrong. And she's sorry. Hes everything to her. She ignores everything around her because everything reminds her of him. Shes trying to run from him because seeing him hurts her deeply. She can't lie to her feelings and keep them inside. So she approaches him and tells him how he's making her feel. But that's what I think. I'm not sure if that's right. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
-
This song is definitely religious. It speaks of how she's been running from God and "can't run anymore." She coming back to God and asking for forgiveness. In God she finds peace when she says, "I fall into your abounding grace and love is where I am." This is definitely a song pertaining to someone, most likely Amy, who had run from God and came back. A prodigal son so to say.
-
I see this as a religious song, actually it is fairly obvious.
1. "I can't run anymore, I fall before you
here I am, I have nothing left"
As if she had tried to forget Christ, but now she realizes she cant, and he is real
2. "you're my only strength
without you, I can't go on
anymore, ever again."
Christ is her only strength, she can't go on without his grace
3."I fall into your abounding grace"
"my only power, my only life"
Christs grace, he IS power, he IS grace
4. "in all my bitterness,
i ignored,
all that's real and true,
all I need is you"
God is all that's real and true
5. "I can't lie anymore,
i fall down before you,
i'm sorry,
i'm sorry."
She falls down befor Christ, and begs forgivness
6. "Constantly ignoring,
the pain consuming me,
but this time it's cut too deep,
i'll never stray again."
She finally sees God is all she needs, and she won't stray from him again
