Evanescence: Together Again Meaning
Together Again Lyrics
So alone and wondering why I feel this way
So wide the world
Can love remember how to get me home to you
Someday
We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
We'll be together...

Amy once claimed this song was written for Narnia (rumors said Lacrymosa was the Narnia song, it wasn't, this one was) and listening to it I think it could fit well with those movies especially the 2nd (with the whole "Can love remember...get me home to you?" thing, it sounds like SusanxCaspian). Think of lines like "I've found a world where love & dreams & darkness all collide/maybe this time we can leave our broken world behind" and "So many fears are swimming around and around my mind/who would have dreamed the secrets we would find?". Those lines sound like something someone who'd been to another world would say, no?

The song is talking about a girl who broke up with her boyfriend because the world got in the way and messed everything up and she feels like this is all a dream and that one day they will be together again.
I put this into my own life because this song describes everything I've been going through. -
this song is about Narnia

"Together Again" was written for the Haitian earthquake victims. The song speaks of families losing loved ones, and how someday, no matter how much it hurts now, they'll all be together again. When the song was first released as a single on iTunes, it raised over $31,000 for Haitian relief funds in it's first week of availability.

I'm not entirely sure if it's what she intends to sing, but my own real (Dutch High School in Holland) life makes me connect to this song in a very special way.
I can imagine her at high school, and going away on an exchange year to another country at the other side of the world. There she's met someone whom she fell in love with, and she stays with him all the time she's there.
But, as it unfortunately always has to be with exchanges, she'd had to return home again - which meant leaving her true love at the other side of the world.
"Never thought that I'd be leaving you today
So alone and wondering why I feel this way
So wide the world"
She'd tried to stay away from that moment, not imagine that it once would be over. But, in the end, she has to leave. She had never thought that the day actually would come that she would have to leave him, her love, her almost everything, and go back to a place from where he's (physically) unreachable, at the other side of the wide world.
"Can love remember how to get me home to you
Someday"
She hopes that the love will not fade, but isn't sure about it. She feels home and doesn't want to return "home" again. She hopes that someday they'll meet again at the place where she truly feels home - with him.
"We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end
We'll be together again"
She keeps telling that they'll be together again, reassuring him, but also herself. She can't believe she actually had to leave him, so it must be a dream. It could namely only happen in nightmares that she'd have had to abandon her true love. She just can't believe that they're so far away from each other now.
"So many fears were swimming around and around in my mind
Who would have dreamed the secrets we would find"
She has always known that she'd have to leave him someday. She feared that moment the entire time she was away, and couldn't stop thinking about it.
The secrets could be their physical love; possibly the loss of virginity, or just a lot of sexual interest in each other.
"I've found a world where love and dreams and darkness all collide
Maybe this time we can leave our broken world behind"
She has found a world where the love and dreams and darkness collide: inside her own mind. She's so desparate that she made up her own world in her head where they'd be living forever, leaving behind the world where they'd always be apart because of the distance.
"We'll be together again
All just a dream in the end"
This time it has a slightly different meaning.
This time they'll be together again in her fantasy world. It isn't the real one, but an imaginary one, and her boyfriend isn't real either.
This all goes on so far that at a certain point she realizes that it all must've been a dream. She breaks contact with her boyfriend, because she believes he doesn't exist - even though he actually does - and puts it all off as a pretty realistic dream, but nothing more than a nice dream. -
obviously this song is about girl that ended her relation with her boyfriend and now she doesn't believe that they have separated and she thinks about all this as a dream not real ... thank u :)
