Fall Out Boy: West Coast Smoker Meaning
West Coast Smoker Lyrics
The infrared scope on pointlessness
The bulls are sedated
And this fight's fixed
Don't feel bad for the suicidal cats
Gotta kill themselves nine times before they get it right
The P.A. system keeps my hard heart...
-
Me: (hears for first time) He’s a sack of bread?
(hears second time) He’s a nervous man.
(reads lyrics) Crap. It said “nervous wreck” -
"Knock once for the father
Twice for the son
Three times for the holy ghost"
I'm sure that section refers to the Holy Trinity. -
my guess is "the father", "the son", and "the holy ghost" are terms for different drugs. knocking 1, 2, or 3 times is the system to make the transaction quickest. i really hope i'm wrong.
-
Ok, heres mine. Pete, the lyricsist and bassist, takes Atavin for his anxiety attacks. Thus the Chorus, except for the Holy ghost part. However, I am oging to assume to that that is a reference to his suicide attempt through ODing.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
'The P.A. System keeps my heart heart beating tonight'
means that he lives for the show, that hearing the band's name on the overhead speaker is the thing that's keeping him alive
'Oh hell yes
I'm a nervous wreck
Oh hell yes
The drugs just make me reset'
he is going through an episode (related to fame, I suppose)and is nervous or feeling bad or disappointed for himself. So, he iz self medicating himself (perscription or the illegal stuff)and the drugs make him feel good for a little while, but then he 'resets' into the depressed mood
'Knock once for the father
Twice for the son
Three times for the holy ghost'
might mean he has found religion, and is seeking god for answers, or simply he has a multiple personality disorder?
theese may be totally wrong, but, hey, no one can really pinpoint what fall out boy's lyrics really mean, any way -
Im surprised nobody else has done this one, its one of my favorite songs, but I can't quite figure it out.
well at first I used to think this song was about seeing through the eyes of a terrorist. (the whole suicidal reference/ "OH HELL YES! IM A NERVOUS WREAK!"- I thought it was his mental state before doing a suicide mission/ then "well never get through customs"- I was thinking airport n him trying to get out of doing it/ then I thought the whole "father, son n holy ghost" thing was him prayin before)
But then later I learned ALL of the lyrics n my interpretation didn't make no sense. Soooo, I'm hoping someone else can come up wit something!
CCCrazy:)
