#1 top rated interpretation:Is about a relationship that is getting difficult. He still believes that they can solve the problems and be together. She doesn't. He says " I just want to stay in bed and hold you like I used to. You know that I am home so darling, if you love me would you let me know?" I think it's a beautiful song.

#2 top rated interpretation:Its about Nate being famous and having to leave his home and leave behind his loved ones and once he gets to see what fame really feels like he says I'll move back down because he had enough of it
-
I love the song and I feel like the song is saying how he wanted to be famous and he left his life to be fameous then he diddent like it and he wants outta it and or he lost a bag at an airport with his buddies and it was behind him all along but he was so stupid not to look behind him the whole time so stupid like look behind your self nate / fun.

I think the meaning of "always packing up my stuff" is his feelings that he never said when he is sad or maybe he met a girl and have relationship for a long time and then something happen that he is forced to find another and it have happen a lot of time. When he said "to this western town" I think of the wild world that he just come and can't leave that world anymore
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think it's about a relationship. He wants an easy relationship but his girlfriend doesn't think so. In the end he leaves the girl. So he has to pack up his stuff.
-
'I wanna be the one', 'Why am I the one' ironic!
-
When Nate says "I got enough on my mind that when she pulls me by the hair
she hasn't much to hold onto" I think he's saying his hair is falling out/thinning due to stress
