Don't You Dare Forget the Sun Lyrics

You're a mess, tangled with your confidence.
You think you haven't sinned.
Well, you're unstoppable,
Your walls are impassible.
Oh, I think you're better off looking alone.
'Cause the boys that chase your hips can just go find their way...

To me this song is about a girl who has a body that is sexualized and she realizes this then becomes depressed (perhaps she was sexually assaulted by someone perhaps her father due to the broken home lyric) and began to harm herself to “damage the merchandise” in hopes of it stopping. One time she goes too far and is admitted into a mental hospital and with therapy or time she understands just how dark her mind really is because she is itching to harm herself. She’s asking for a sign that she should stop right before she does the deed. In the song there’s a faintest of ‘No’ to the/ her question. When her sign doesn’t come, she harms herself and as she’s dying she wants her last memory to be something good like the sun but instead she’s thinking of her whole life up til the moment she’s in. Just before she dies it’s the line, “gotta think of something” x2 as her time is running out and she’s not thinking of anything that would make her happy.

I think the song means doing things because we think that's what people want (sending nudes and having sex at a young age). And after we've done those things, it impacts our mental health in a bad way. This is kinda just an interpretation for kids and young teens who like the song, like me, and want to know the exact meaning (or almost exact meaning) of the song.

The first stanza seems to take talk about some who is using their body for attention even though they known it isn't right. The second stanza goes on about how they are becoming severely depressed, to the point of suicidal ideations. The third stanza seems to be talking bout them being in a psychological medical facility for self-harm and a possible suicide attempt. The four stanza (though similar to the second one) makes it seem as through the singer is the clinician that is suppose to be helping them and making a breakthrough. The fifth stanza presents a bit of the results of that breakthrough with the person asking for a sign to prove that they do deserve to live happily. With the six stanza, it is safe to assume that the sign hadn't come and they become depressed once again. The final stanza, I believe, is up to the audience decision. The first part is the person's depressive thought, then you can decide if the last line is the person trying to attempt again or them trying to rid themself of the depressive thought.

For me the song Don't You Dare Forget the Sun is about a boy who fell in love maybe there was an argument and they broke up until one day the girl he loves died and he realizes that he still loves her because she was like the sun to him and he can not forget her anymore

I think this song means that life underestimated him and his strength, It also means that he went insane after losing his sister, he wants to change but he can't and he blames his father for what happens

When I think of this song I think about how bad mine and my dads' relationship is. To me I think about how my depression, PTSD, anxiety and being lesbian has made my dad almost not even want me in the same house. My dad once told me that I just a "product" to a guy because I like girls, so they would use me then throw me out. He talked about how me wanted to was fake and I just wanted attention, saying that I messed up his family. He told me he never thought that he would have a kid like me and be this hard.

I tend to apply songs to my own life. The song reminds me of how ashamed I am that when I was in middle school, I would do sexual roleplay with adults and send nudes for attention. I thought I was fine, I thought I was doing what was best for me, but it wasn’t. The shame and mental impacts of the things I’ve gone through have just ripped me apart. The part about wanting to stab again reminds me of being in a psych ward for a time.. I also used to think the line was “Your body isn’t proud of being sold on a shelf” so I guess that may have impacted my feelings on it.

Well it most likely about suicide, and partially it about someone kind of looking for another to come along and wipe away their tears hence said in this part "Dear diary, life is trying me can I get a sign or a TWO of mind a piece of mind." Two meaning a sign as in someone telling them it is gonna be ok and you don't need to die to make people happy.

I think the song is about someone who's in coma; "well I know you lay in bed, contemplating your own death". He/she is between life and death. He/she and wasn't taking care of him/herself ( that's mostly what brought him/her into coma ) and was mutilating him/herself ( "you just wanna stab again" and "you can dig so deep for scars" ). Also, there's an artificial breathing sound at a moment. And all of this is because of depression. Now he/she's at the hospital ( "cold white walls..." ). His/her lover came to see the person to "talk" with him/her and say "breathe with me" and " don't you dare forget the sun". That means "don't lose hope".
Now they're both kind of desperate ( "dear diary, life is trying me, can I get a sign ? Or a two of mind, a piece of mind ?" ).

This song is about somebody who is known by the singer who is suicidal and has been thinking about it for a long time.
