Glass Animals: Your Love (Deja Vu) Meaning
Song Released: 2020
Your Love (Deja Vu) Lyrics
-
This song is about being in a toxic relationship and not understanding why you want to return to the toxic person abusing you. This is shown in the lyrics of the bridge:
"Night by night
I let you eat me alive
I want you to eat me alive
I want you to eat me alive"
The narrator is aware that this person is destroying thier life, but returns for their "love" anyway. The narrator is addicted to the chaos of thier relationship. Mostly just for the comfort of nostalgia, deja vu, or a sense that the abuser has done more good than bad when the narrator thinks about the pat of thier relationship.
The song also perfectly coincides with "Domestic Bliss" of the same album, which is also about an abusive relationship.
