Bronte Lyrics

Now your bowl is empty
And your feet are cold
And your body cannot stop rocking
I know
It hurts to let go

Since the day we found you
You have been our friend
And your voice still
Echoes in the hallway of this house
But now
It's the...

I heard that it was about his friends dog and when it got really old and sick they had to put it down. I didn't really listen to the words until today, but when I heard it I realized how sad it was (Now your bowl is empty, and your feet are cold, and your body cannot stop rocking). Every time I listen to it I think about what I would do if I had to live without my best friend Krypto and burst into tears.

Gotye had a close friend who had a family pet named "Bronte" When he was very old and had to be "put down" the vet and the whole family gathered at the house. They all were there for this creature when it left this world. Gotye(Wally) was so moved at the love and respect this family had for their dog that he wrote this song in tribute. -rustedwheel

I think this song is about growing up, becoming a young adult and loosing your innocence, youth, purity and childhood. Its really heartbreaking and touching but spiritual and beautiful, its unique.

When I saw the lyrics I got tears in my eyes.
I still miss my best buddy, even though it's 2 years ago.
Beautifull song, but now I know whats it about I don't know if I can hear it without tears.

I absolutely love this song and the lyrics, it made me cry. The video is lovely and I did not know there was one until just a moment ago. I love the whole album to be honest, mydaughter loaned it to me but I cannot stop playing this particular song. Thank you. I love the way you express yourselves. I have to be honest, i love the song, and it's meaningful, but i was kind of disappointed that it had nothing to do with Charlotte Bronte. It DID NOT take away from the greatness of the album though.
