In Flames: Cloud Connected Meaning
Cloud Connected Lyrics
You live in a dream world
You despise the outside
And you fear you're the next one
It's in your dream
There's just one question
Should I kill?
Or should I be left behind?
Sick and tired
Of all your complaints
This is...

#1 top rated interpretation:No offense man but wtf? the howl song is about how most people don't do anything with there lives and sit around and just go through the motions in life. This song encourages you to get up and do some thing. and it tells us that we take life for granted and complain too much
"sick and tired of all you complaints, this is the hour we bring it down."
and when he said "I was told that I could fly, when least expected cloud connected." that doesn't mean he couldn't fly (metaphorically speaking) it means that he was able to fly and that we all have a spiritual connection. Hence cloud connected.
and bro in flames does not write lyrics that are depressing and tell you you can't do something. Their lyrics give hope -
Coming back after that many years, but still I want to add my comment.
For me, this comes like a dialog between Anders and the “outer world”. People told him, “get a proper job” (check interview from loudersound) as the light voice says: you live in your dream world.
The singer is confronted by the dog-eat-dog society, where everyone is his owns best friend (light voice: Should I kill or be left behind).
Now the singer answers (change of voice) “Sick and tired of all your complaints”. “With every little glimpse you fade”, so the light voice (society) telling him to leave his dream world becomes quieter.
Light voice: You cross the line, remember my name, time runs backwards... is reminding him not to go this way on your own. You don't make any progress, follow the stream and do what "your parents told you", what society thinks is best for you.
And Anders answering again that he can fly, when people least expected it. Cloud connected = everything made sense now. He found his wings and can fly (so, do whatever he wants).
For me personally, it is not only a dialog about live up to your expectations and leave the concerns behind. It is also a message about generation-Y. People nowadays always been told to be unique, valuable and are seeking for attention ("remember my name"), but at the end of the day, the same people don't want you to chase their dreams (out of fear maybe) but get a proper job. There is a gap between being unique and chasing this uniqueness. So the dream world people are living in, might just be the dream they always wished to live in. If you see someone being different, not fitting your expectations about living, maybe just let them live their dreams. Anders also added that it is about "being inclusive... and not to be a closed society". Which also fits, I guess. Let people accept that we all have different dreams, don't let others feel to be "left behind" or "kill" for your view of how things have to be going. The world is not just black and white. -
"I was told that I could fly
When least expected, cloud connected"
The told me I could do anything, that I could even fly. I kept trying but I kept failing and then when I was about to give up, when I was least expecting it - cloud connected (meaning I landed on a cloud). I flew after all! (or was I flying all this time?) -
"People like you
You live in a dream world
You despise the outside
And you fear you're the next one"
People like you
You live in a dream world
You despise popular things/ideas, you long For nonconformity,
But you fear you will conform anyways
"It's in your dream
There's just one question
Should I kill?
Or should I be left behind?"
Your fears have invaded your dreams,
There's just one question,
Should I kill the thoughts,
Or should I change and unworry myself
"I've come to realize
Every little glimpse, you fade
I was told that I could fly
When least expected, cloud connected"
I've come to realize
with every moment spent on worry, i fade away
I was told by someone that i couldn't conform, that it was impossible
I didn't believe them, and when i forgot about my worry, i became cloud connected (enlightened), and you come out of your emotional shelter of the outside
"You seem to be
So introverted
How come we fail?"
You seem to be
So self conservative, you keep in a shell, because you feel new ideas will seep through without it, and your worry will come true
You ask why you cannot strive socially, it is because of that shell
sorry its kinda long, keep in mind though, music is supposed to bring out YOUR interpretation of the lyrics... -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
