the meaning of this song is actually a man dies and when he dies he Feels like he is still alive. " fly into the distance, disappear for a while" the he still does not know he is dead " but where here feeling alive". when he does realize he is dead. he wants to take control and live again.

This relates to the song sounds of a playground fading and the nuclear blast. they were killed in seconds and didn't know they were dead.

To me, the lyrics sounds like Mother Nature's distress call about what we are doing to her.. that we humans are really messing up the Earth.. literally our choice in destroying or preserving the only world we have.

Well just listening to the chorus it sounds like they're singing about getting away from the madness and stupidity of modern society, certain parts of the song suggest he is actually speaking to someone directly, and after there little get away, they "end today feeling alive"
