Jack Johnson: Talk of the Town Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Talk of the Town Lyrics
Is about last night when the sun went down
And the trees all dance
And the warm wind blows in that same old sound
And the water below gives a gift to the sky
And the clouds give back every time they...

I think this song is maybe more about mindset than an actual story song. It's referencing the simplistic view of the singer. Desiring & describing a place of peace + serenity. And notice how he gives explanations such as the clouds every time they cry meaning the rain has a purpose, to make the grass grow green, etc. I think it's referencing many of life's purposes & how everything has significance. Then the part about a puzzle to put it all together...Just a guess, but part of me feels it's about a perspective, but also how everything happens for a reason.

This song os about how jack saw the world and how it worked to him when he was a small kid. And the trees are dancing and the warm wind blows
And the same old time
And the water below gives a gift to the sky
And the clouds give back every time they cry
Make the grass grow green beneath my toes
And if the sun pops out
I’ll paint a picture all about
The colours I’ve been dreaming of
The hours just don’t seem enough
To put it all together
Maybe it’s as strange as it seems mmm mmm"
Its as he thought the trees danced but only everytime the wind blew and how he thought the clouds cryed when it rained and whne he wanted to draw a picture of all this he never had enough time to finish it because the day wouldnt last long enough for him to finish it then it would be night.
