James Taylor: You've Got a Friend Meaning
Song Released: 1971
You've Got a Friend Lyrics
and you need a helping hand,
and nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
and you...

I don’t believe in God or Jesus so I think that the song is really about someone u can count on anytime, anywhere & it doesn’t matter what they’re doing, they’ll drop everything if u really need them. It doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is, a true friend will feel your need & be there by your side to help u with whatever is troubling u.
-
The "friend" this song refers to is Jesus. Ofcourse, real friends would always try their best to be there anytime to help and comfort their friends, but reality is, it cannot be done at all times. Only Jesus is available anytime and anywhere.
-
It's about having a friend you can talk to or reach out anytime, whether it is winter, spring, summer or fall. All you have to do is call and they will be there.
After a long delay, able to interpret again -

ONLY Jesus is the TRUE FRIEND that we can have if we BELIEVE in Him.
But what about FACEBOOK FRIENDS? Do you guys consider them as your REAL friends?
I don’t have a friend like the song describes. But I like the melody. Impossible to have an earthly friend like this song says. Friends can’t be available all thd time and they also have their own life. -
Easily could be about Jesus. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a the type of friends that are always available and will get up in the middle if the night or 3am and be knocking on your door. It is all personal interpretation. And I'm 46 and found Jesus as the only one I can truly depend on.

This song is about Jesus. Earthly friends move into and out of our lives, seldom meet our expectations, and eventually disappoint us. Our only true friend is Jesus.
-
i can relate in this song because i have a friend of mine and i know we will always there every time when everyone of us has a problem and we are for each other to comfort and to care for each other
