Jewel: You Were Meant For Me Meaning
Song Released: 1996
You Were Meant For Me Lyrics
-
A literal song about changing in the hopes of bringing back someone who did not love you the way you are. People pleasing does not bring true love so this guy sounded like a real loser."I know you hate it when I leave the lights on." Please!
-
It's about a girl who's in love and living with her boyfriend.
Boyfriend is a neat freak and so dumps girl because she leaves spots on the mirror.
Girl is sad but hopeful because she believes they were meant for each other. -
I thought it was about the death of a loved one.
-
I'm surprised there aren't any interpretations for this song. One of Jewel's biggest hits. It seems to be about recovering from a devastating break up. She's moved into a new place and is adjusting to life without her significant other.
She seems to be in deep denial denial. Even though the relationship is undeniably over and never coming back, she just won't stop believing that one day he'll realize they were meant to be together and return to her.
